Hello all!

I’m so glad you made it here today. It’s important to think about what you believe and what really drives you to do something. What are our motivations? Why are we here? Well, over the next few weeks I will be writing about what my husband Buck and I believe and why we believe it.

Art illustrates culture without the barrier of language.

We believe that art is important. Since the beginning of humanity art has followed in our footsteps. Art illustrates culture without the barrier of language. Some of the earliest art came from the drawings of cavemen illustrating their lives on cave walls during the Paleolithic era. During the High Renaissance of the 16th century artists like Michelangelo, Raphael, and Leonardo da Vinci defined an era through their various art forms. After them, many other art movements came and went helping to illustrate the time and themes of culture. Art in various forms is an essential part of the human experience. It can have a profound effect on anyone who views it. Art can make us feel emotion, take us to a place we’ve never seen, cause us to remember past events and people we love or even spark us to stand against injustice.

In Genesis 1:27 we see God create man ‘in His image’ or ‘in His likeness’. Scripture is filled with examples of God as our creator or maker. One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 2:10,

‘For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.’

The word for masterpiece in this verse in the Greek is poiēma and can be translated as ‘poem’ in English. Humanity is described as the story or poem of God and His ultimate creation when we are re-created in Christ Jesus. What I find fascinating is that this verse doesn’t just say that we are a masterpiece, but, that we have a purpose. He created us so we can do good! Art is important because there can be a purpose in the creation of it. I intend to make art that establishes good things in this world and brings the kingdom of heaven closer to earth.

If I am made in His image then I was created to create. I believe that I am a masterpiece of God and I believe that you are too. These are the things that I hold onto and the things that drive me to continue on in my creative journey. I’d absolutely love it if you joined me in this journey. You can watch from a distance or you can let me create a masterpiece for you! I’d love to help establish the good things of the kingdom of God in your life.

I hope you got a glimpse of our hearts and I also hope that you’ll stay tuned in for more!

Made in His image,

Lindsey Hogan
